Classical black & white photography lovers will already be acquainted with the body of work of Swiss photographer Sabine Weiss, but we are showcasing her work for everybody else to admire, as well. Weiss, born in 1924, started taking pictures at the very tender age of twelve and has never really stopped. Since she was always a great music and art lover, she got the opportunity to photograph some of the biggest names in those fields throughout history, from Fernand Leger and F. Scott Fitzgerald to Igor Stravinski, Stan Getz and Alberto Giacometti. She also collaborated with magazines both in the United States and Europe – only the biggest titles, of course (LIFE magazine, Vogue, Paris Match, Newsweek, etc.). She is still alive today, although not quite as active as she used to be. Other than her awesome pictures, testament to her skill stands the praise that photography master Robert Doisneau wrote of her.
beautiful! thank you! How evocative of a time better than this one, in many ways
